Message: | Hi Susie, Crawdaddy’s Jill Franeberry hit the bull’s eye, writing, “Newbury is the Robert Frost of song, finding the core of emotions with lyrics that are simple, yet so complex.” In my opinion, several Newbury lyrics contain key elements of the poet, such as alliteration, assonance, meter, and rhythm… all with insight commenting on the Mystery. In no particular order, some of Mickey’s songs that stand alone as poetry include: The Sailor, Sail Away, San Francisco Mabel Joy, Wish I Was, Heaven Help The Child, Lead On, 116 Westfield Street, That Was The Way It Was Then, Frisco Depot, Write A Song Song/Angeline, 33rd of August (Amen), Winter Winds Blow, Saint Cecilia, Song Of Sorrow, Poison Red Berries, So Sad, Don’t Wanna Rock, The Piper, Just Dropped In, Song For Susan, The Queen, Cortelia Clark, T. Total Tommy, Leavin’ Kentucky, If You See Her, Juble Lee’s Revival, Westphalia Texas Waltz, The Dragon and The Mouse, A Storm Is Comin’, Some Memories Are Better Left Alone, Little Blue Robin… |
