By V. Douglas Jones
...as translated from Rolling Stone Germany:
"Newbury was a sentimentalist, a singer of old Dixieland, who intoned his mantra as fervently as Elvis, with reverb on his voice and majestically shimmering strings and a murmuring chorus in the background, further illustrated by acoustic guitar, harmonica and the chirping of birds, and completed with wind instruments. Newbury often sounds as if he was sitting in an echo chamber while recording, sometimes it rains - these songs are wonderful melancholic sermons, not unlike those of Jimmy Webb. A compelling, almost religious kitsch - or should we say, a most beautiful poetry of yearning."
Erik from Denmark have AD this here!
