Message:  Welll, Doug... since you put it THAT way ....
I see your point. Handsome he was, with his
dimple and sparkly eyes. His face was older
than he was, in wisdom and knowledge. His
eyes were warm and friendly, I've read on the
porches. His friendship was loyal and true.
His legacies are many. The words he wrote are
forever. His voice was (and is) haunting and
captivatingly beautiful. The first time I ever
heard him sing (Mabel Joy, in the 70's), I
knew he had pulled me in, hook, line, and sinker, and left me ....forever a fan.... I have
shared him with many, but kept him for myself.
I never met him, but he was my friend. I
respected him. I needed his words and his music,
but he never knew me.
