Subject:  My folks and a friend's son...
Message:  Well, I'm here asking for a "three-fer" in the prayer department.

My Dad will be having major 4-1/2 hour surgery on Friday morning.. a spinal fusion and a few other things related to his back. It seems like an awfully long surgery for someone with all his health conditions, but he really needs it. He can barely get around these days, he's in so much pain.

We're going to be placing Mom in a group home "thingy," something between a nursing home and an assisted living place tomorrow, something I really dread. Her Alzheimer's is progressing and she needs a lot of physical care. We've been having home health care for a couple months to help out when Dad or my sisters and I can't do it, but it's getting much too expensive and we can't keep the home care up.

Dad hopes to be released from the hospital next week to be in the same facility with Mom, because he will need a lot of care and wouldn't be able to stay at home alone, either, for a while. There's thoughts about trying to bring Mom back home in the future, but honestly, I don't see how we can do this.

Could you please say a few prayers for both my folks, and all of us? I'd hoped we'd never have to place Mom in a facility, and I"m nervous about Dad having such a long surgery.

Also, the 21-year-old son of a friend is in trouble. His testicular cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. It's just overwhelming to think about what he and his parents are feeling right now. They sure could use the prayers.

Thanks so much.
