Message:  Doug, I'm so sorry about what's happening to your Dad. We suspect the same is happening with my Mom, but can't get her to be tested, which is awful because I do hear there are drugs that can help slow Alzheimer's down if you catch it early.

I don't want to give you false hope, but I want to tell you and anyone else reading this about something that's happened twice with my Mom in her lifetime. Both times, she lost all sense of time and reality.. thought her Dad, who died in '63, was still alive, she didn't remember all of her children, etc., etc. Both times, after long struggles, we, the family, asked that her thyroid be tested. The health care professionals never thought of it. Both times, her thyroid was way out of whack. She started to improve within hours of getting a thyroid supplement. I know it's a long shot, but it's a simple blood test, and I'd say worth trying.

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
