| Subject: | My friend 'n Mick's, Jim Couch |
| Message: | Loved Ones, Yesterday, August 07, 2004 at around 3:00 PM Jim Couch, my dear friend and member of this family, silently slipped away and went home to be with his Lord. Jim loved Mick and he loved me, but he loved each of you as well. He never got the opportunity to tell some of you how much he loved you because of his long battle with cancer, but he knew each and every one of you by name just like he knew the words to all of Mick's song. I spoke with Jim on Wednesday of last week. In spite of his fatigue, the tremor in his voice, a few of his tears and my own, we were able to convey our deepest love and respect for one in a telephone conversation for the better part of a half hour. Jim and I knew this conversation would probably be our last here on earth, but we also knew that it would not be our last conversation. We both believe in things eternal. After my phone conversation with Jim I immediately called Mamie, Roy, Jonmark, and Laura Shayne. Mamie spoke with Jim only minutes after my own conversation with him, and Roy, later in the day called Jim as well and overnighted the 2004 Gathering CDs to him. I'm told by Aliene, Jim's sister, Jonmark shared with Jim for better part of an hour and I am so thankful for the time they were able to spend together. As always, our little, grownup princess Laura Shayne expressed her love beautifully and tenderly just like her Dad. They will bury my friend Jim, my brother (and this needs no explanation especially here) on Tuesday in South Carolina, a place he loved, where he was surrouned by people he loved and who loved him. I will be there in spirit. Already I miss him deeply. Perhaps if each you has a moment you might post a reply to family memembers and Jim's friends. In closing I'm sharing the words to a song my friend Danny Britt wrote some years back for another friend who sailed away. I believe Danny's song like so many songs rings loud and true. Every Time an Angel Flies Snow falls on the mountains I love the way it looks up there It's wintertime in Boulder There's a new star in the air You know it's sunny down in Austin Children play and fly their kites They don't know a new stars burning In the winter sky tonight Every time an angel passes To the other side They leave a dark spot on the earth But put a light up in the sky Every time an angel flies To lose someone is hard You don't know what to do They just went on up ahead To light the way for me and you So when you see that evenin' sky Make a wish upon your star 'Cause there's someone there who loves you Always watching, never far The light from their wings Shows the way from up above You can seem them in you dreams Close your eyes, count on love Danny Britt (Austin Red Dawg Publishing ASCAP) All my love (Randy) |
