At 7am this morning Chad attempted to call me on my cell. I was on the internet and he could not call the house. I get poor reception on the cell phone at my home. He left a voice mail saying that he would try to call another time.I then collected the home radio phone and the cell and proceeded to my truck where I have an antenna for my cell. I waited about 10 minutes and then looked at the cell phone and said, "CALL". At that moment the phone rang and it was Chad. We talked for 30 minutes. He is fine and says hello to everyone on the porch. He told me to tell Connie S thanks for the care package. He said he used the razor you sent to shave his head. He also said that he received to CD'S from Mountain Retreat. He has all his men listening to Mick. He reported that their favorite is "Willow Tree". They really love his singing and asked Chad if Mickey is from a foreign land. They can't understand how they have never heard of him. Chad laughed and said that they are all asking him what Mickey means by this or that. It seems to me that is the same question my son asked me when he was younger. I told him about Joe's book and said that the information he and I had gathered about Guthrie was included in the Epilogue of the book. He was happy. I said I would send a copy. We each said how much we loved each other and then said goodbye. What a wonderful Memorial Day morning. |
