From my cousin about my uncle...he is now in Houston at St. Luke's. He had a heart attack this past Thursday. He is only 6 years old than me. All of my aunts and uncles are more like brothers and sisters.
Update on my dad. He had some crazy EKG’s yesterday morning so he was taken back to the Cath Lab to make sure his stent was still open. His stent was still open and working great. However, his heart function was so low and his heart wasn’t pumping blood like it should. He was put on an Impeller (sp?) machine at St. Elizabeth. The machine basically does all the work for the heart. Normally, people are on this machine about 72 hours before they start trying to wean them off. He was flown to St. Luke’s in Houston last night. If there are complications when he’s weaned off, St. Luke’s is better equipped to handle it. Right now we do not know if his heart is in “shock”/“hibernation” mode or if he has irreversible damage. His vital signs have been going up and down all night and he currently has a fever. He is heavily sedated right now and will probably be for the next couple of days. So, here’s what we need: BIG PRAYERS for stable vital signs, the fever to go away, no infection to set in, and that his heart starts to pump and work properly once they start to wean him off of this machine. |
