|Subject:||A personal note about John Ritter|
|Message:||A friend of mine named Allie just sent me this email. I thought I'd share it with you. I know she wouldn't mind.
Almost 4 years ago today, (Sept. 18 to be exact), my father performed the marriage ceremony of John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck.
Being from a very small town in Ohio, it was a huge shock when Amy Yasbeck contacted my dad, who was mayor at the time, and asked him to perform the ceremony. It turns out that Amy was related to the Murphy family here in town, and our very old downtown theater was named for her uncle Charlie Murphy. It was Amy's dream to be married in the Murphy Theater.
John and Amy were both so wonderful to my parents. As a matter of fact, during the rehersal, Amy wanted to see what it would look like from the audience, so she asked my mom to stand in for her. When it got to the part where my dad said, "This is the part where you kiss the bride", John Ritter dipped my mother and planted a big kiss right on her mouth. My mom still talks about it to this day.
They continue to receive Christmas cards from the Ritter family, including pictures of Stella and personal notes.
I got the call at 7:12 this morning from my mom telling me that "her Johnny" had passed away.
I think it is so sad that so many people that make their lives focus on making other people laugh are taken away at such an early age. John, you will be missed, and my heart and prayers go out to Amy, Stella, Carly, Jason and Tyler.
