| Subject: | She is doing GREAT |
| Message: | Just got back from visiting Mamie. Wow, what a difference from Saturday evening, when I last saw her! I started to go out and look on the door and see if I had the right room. When I entered her room she was EATING a meat pattie and talking about how good it was. She ate about a fourth of it. I must agree, it had a good taste but the texture sucked. Almost didn't finish it for her. The mashed potatoes were ok as was the rest of her roll and the pudding with some kind of fruit I couldn't identify. I can't believe hospital food is giving me so much indigestion. The nurse came in to get the tray and I told her that I wasn't quite finished yet. She said she would come back. Had my eye on the tomato soup. Turns out Mamie wanted it too, so I had to leave it alone. She LOVED the little "Love Surrounds You" figurine and the comments that you guys wrote and I read to her while she ate. She had me put a straw into the plastic top on her prune juice and the crap sprayed all over my face. I was hoping not to take another shower but I don't want to try and sleep with the smell of prune juice in my mustache. Might make my nose run. Get it? Prune Juice... runs? Never mind. She wanted me to convey just how much she loves you guys and how special you all are to her. She might be going home soon and possibly get some in home physical therapy or physical therapy somewhere else. It's still to be decided. She's strong but also has a tender heart. She cried for all the moms that don't have their children with them anymore, to celebrate mothers day. She talked of her blessings in life. The main one being me...... Ok, so maybe, I just threw that in there. More good news, they removed her.... Dear God, I hate to even say the word..... CATHETER... And yes I left the room for that one. I was going to go home at that point but she told me to just wait outside the door and come back in when it was all over. She said she wasn't ready for me to go. She had a lot of stories to tell and I loved them. At one point she asked me if she was talking too much. Lord no, she wasn't. I was grateful that she felt like talking after having to have so much fluid removed from her lungs, just a few days ago. The nurse came in and put a face mask on her for her breathing treatment. And while it was on she continued telling me the story from where she left off. Before I left I had to position the rolling cart, just right, so she could reach everything. Then the pillow had to be moved... down, but of course I moved it up and we had to redo it. Then she wanted the two lights on either side of the bed on but NOT the bright light above. I was successful turning the big bright light on. " No, not that one!" I tried to find how to turn the two little lamps on but couldn't. " Jerry knows how to do it."..... I really didn't give a d*mn if Jesus Christ knew how to do it, I DIDN'T! Finally the nurse came in and got them fixed , just right. We said a quick prayer and then I left. I'll probably think of something later but for now..... She's doing Great! LL |
