| Message: | Chris, In high school, Paul Halupa (Hoops) asked me to stay after class one day. Once all the students were gone, he sat me down in a desk by myself and put on Eva singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"... I couldn't believe my ears. I cried too. She was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. I asked Paul if I could borrow the CD for a night. I took it home and raced in the house to find mom and dad both in their bedroom. I made them stop everything and told dad he HAD to hear this woman - she was incredible! I was so excited! What a discovery!! When she started singing, dad started chuckling. Mom started chuckling. I was thoroughly offended. haha Then dad explained that he knew her music well, and he was glad I was finally with the times in his own words. : ) She's been my favorite female vocalist since. My favorite moment from the Texas Country Music Songwriter's Hall of Fame induction trip was with Cowboy... in the parking lot of the hotel... in his car... I can hear it still.... "Oooohhhh Oooohhhhh Ooohhhh had I a golden threeeeaaaaddd... and a neeeeddlllleeeee soooooo fiiiinnnee...." Priceless chops. Good taste brother. : ) Laura Shayne |
