| Message: | One of Mr Tubb's early, long running gigs was as bass player for Leroy Van Dyke. At the Time Billy Ray had a shock of very black hair as well as a full beard. It was amazing how much he resembled Abraham Lincoln. Being the consumate entertainer that he was, Leroy took full advantage of the likeness. He and BR did a very funny bit on stage about how different things might have been if Abe had been more like Billy Ray. As I recall, this went on for a year or so, and then one night Billy showed up on stage clean shaven. Without missing a beat, Leroy went into his new bit, about how he couldn't call Billy Ray 'Lincoln' any more. He is now Ex Lincoln. "X" released a couple of singles under his new name and at some point had it legally changed. He is one of the most funniest people you could ever meet. And if you have the time, boy can he tell some stories. My friend for more than forty years, I pray for him daily. And now you know the rest of the story. |
