I love Bob Marley. Saw him perform three times,
aired a two-hour special on his life and music.
Sad that he died so young, a small miracle that
he lived so long. He was the target of a few
political attacks, suffered a bullet wound from
one of them just prior to a performance where
he brought the leaders of the two warring parties
on stage together in Jamaica in an effort to
quell the violence leading up to an election.
While music may put you in touch with your pain,
it certainly causes none of it. As ancient a
healing practise as there is, it remains the one
"place" where the world community is joined
together in an invisible city. Marley lived in
that city.
