| Message: | Just poking around here. Hello to the people who may know me and everyone for that matter. That was quite a testimonial to Mickey Newbury's music. I remember being on the afternoon shift where I work. Many, many, many, days I would be late for work because I just couldn't turn the phonograph (y'all know what that is???)off and stop listening to Mickey's records. I'm going to tell you one thing that will make you even a happier man. I think I heard Mickey didn't like this cd though I don't know why. I enjoy many of the songs on the cd I'm going to tell you about at least as much as the Elektra/Hickory recordings. There was a cd on Curb Records called 'Best Of Mickey Newbury' (Curb D2-77455). I don't believe it's generally available but if you look hard enough............I mention this to you because you will find five cuts that are not on any of your other recordings. And, to my humble ears, they measure up to Mickey at his best. There's one song (Ain't No Blues Today) Mickey mentions Louis Armstrong and Lefty Frizzell. I'm waiting for someone to pay such homage to Mickey Newbury. |
