| Message: | Our families owe this Porch and the prayer warrors who rock here such a debt...I wish all of you could have been there when they installed the plug that allowed Rene to speak again. The smile that appeared on her face lit up the room. She felt well enough yesterday to get in a wheel chair and travel down a floor to visit with Dwayne for the first time. It was a trip that wore her out, but it was quite a boost to her phyce. She had another operation on her leg last night and they found no infection, but they did have to remove some dead tissue that wasn't receiving enough blood flow. They think that will correct the problem. The real fight now is to be able to keep the knee. The original thought was to take the leg from just above the knee where there we no damage from the accident, but the family decided against that, knowing that with the knee in place, walking without a limp would be possible. If there continues to be dead areas on the stump, then it could take another four or five operations and another month in the hospital, where one additional operation and an extra week in the hopspital would be the case if they went above the knee. Now that Rene is awake she can make that choice on her own. Kitina's two beautiful daughters drove in from Nashville, arriving here at five this morning. I haven't seen Kelsey in almost five years and Kendra left Texas right after Gathering V, so it's been almost three years since I've seen her. Depending on what choice Rene makes regarding her leg, we hope to move her out of JPS, which is the county hospital, into a private rehab facility. JPS was the best choice for the tramaw that was involved...but it's time for a less crowded and closer facility to be called home for a month or two. Please forgive the spelling...I've got a date with Kelsey and Kendra for lunch... Thank you all again for all you have done to pull Rene through this experience. Love & Light |
