Message:  Hello to y'all! Got the chance to get on the net at long last and hopefully will get this message on before the library "nazi" tells me time's up. Had hoped to get lots of visits in over Christmas when we were parked on my sister's land and I could have used her internet... but, my teenage nephew had downloaded a virus and it took them a month to straighten it all out. Meantime, Neil and I had a job in Melbourne, minding a Post Office.

Firstly, my love and prayers to our friends here who are suffering. You are all always in my thoughts and prayers and sometimes I manage a quick peek at the porch to see how people are faring.

My DJ friend from the country radio station received his MN CDs from Mountain Retreat, thankyou!, and tells me he includes Mickey's music into his program on a weekly basis. It is my goal to keep trying to get Mickey's music out there but I have to do this in a careful way or I sound like some nutter housewife to those big city exec types who choose what we all get to hear. (Little do they know... I AM!!! haha heehee)

Good news! Mickey would love this, and he and I have shared many a smirk lately. My dear, stubborn husband, Neil, alias Melvin because he shares many personality traits and habits with Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets", has discovered Mickey! Yes, it has taken a while, you can't rush this man, but he loves Mickey's music and believes Mickey to be a great under-recognised talent. Smirk smirk! It is so lovely for me that we share the brilliance of the words, and appreciate together the beauty of the music as we travel around the countryside in such close companionship. As I have said here before, Mickey loved his country dearly and you feel that as you listen to his music, but that love is easily transcribed to Australia and my love for this country. Mickey sings love and love is everywhere!

I try not to say this on the porch because there are others with losses so much deeper than my own, but I miss Mickey so very much. I still have the music, of course, but his friendship to us on the porch was such a wonderful and generous gift that losing it has been hard. Harder than anything I have ever experienced before outside of my family. Mickey really is a one in a zillion! Mickey, we love you, Dear Heart. I sometimes suspect that I don't try as hard as I might to get on the porch because it still hurts. There,, the tears still flow. (I am sorry if I have upset anyone but Mickey deserves it to be said. My thoughts and love are always with Mamie, Susie, Laura Shayne and the other children).

Neil and I are still travelling around and working when we can. It has been nearly 14 months now since we packed up our household and put it into storage and set off in our caravan and Landcruiser. Last year we went most of the way up the east coast (the top bit of Australia requires serious preparations as it is very rugged so that will be for down the track), to Cooktown. We need to work so that dictates our travels but eventually we hope to go all over.

Wooops! Time is nearly up. My love to you all and I am heading off now to get myself a lottery ticket so as to join you at the next gathering.
