| Message: | As one that has been to Homer's Pond in the Old & Lost River basins, I am here to bear (bare) witness that, in fact, a duck's quack does echo. Now mind you, I have never heard a duck's quack echo on open water, only in flooded timber! Even while squirrel hunting in the Big Thicket, I have heard ducks on a pond and echoing through the woods. Also keep in mind that there are not really that many duck species that actually quack! The mallard comes to mind as one that does but the pintail, gadwall, teal or wood duck...well they actually whistle. If you need a demonstration at the next Gathering, let me know! :) Craig |
