| Message: | This is Sylvia and my first trip to the Frank Brown and there is no way to tell you what wonderful music we've experienced. Last night was the Newbury Tribute at the Sliver Moon, and I get chills just thinking about it. Cowboy Johnson opened the show, Don & Karen McNatt, Guy Hayes, Larry & Gail Book, Larry T. Wilson and Kasey Jones paved the way for Chris Newbury, who did his daddy proud, before handing the stage over to Larry Jon Wilson, who blew everyone away with his memories of Mickey in words and music. Cowboy closed the show with "Sweet Memories". Mamie was beautiful in pink and as she sat with Jerry and Gary and Lin Lake. Felix & Barbara were on the front row and Paul Colby held court at his table with Joe Gilchrist. Bill & Linda Paulman were right behind Sylvia and me. Gary and Lin have been playing hosts to most of us, turning over the keys to their SUV to me so I could drive Miss Mamie around to the different venues, where we've provided invites to several great artists to join us at next year's Gathering. Capt. Andy Olson has plugged our event every chance he's had. You wouldn't believe the love for Mickey that is everywhere here. The next Newbury Tribute night will be Wednesday and there is a chance that there might be a web cast of that special evening. There will be a five hour professional web cast from the FloraBama next weekend. This will be a pay-for-view broadcast that Joe Gilchrist has put together with the proceeds going to helping songwriters. Go to: www.florabama.com for more information and times. Tonight we've at Gary & Lin's wonderful home for Texas size steaks and "Bushwackers". Those have nothing to do with politics...but two of them will hang your chad. Mamie, Jerry, Guy, Don & Karen and Kasey Jones, along with Larry & Gail are on the way. Y'all just excuse me while I hit the hot tub! Tomorrow night is a large gathering at Larry & Gail's for a huge guitar pull. I'll provide a more complete report once back in Venus...we're heading back Wednesday morning...sure to hate to leave..... |
