Message:  I've watched "Why You Been Gone" become quite popular in Bluegrass circles over the past few years. I first heard it this way by Richard Starkey (not tne Beatle, Joe) a Martin Guitar clinician who played it in a Nashville group, possibly the Tennessee Gentlemen.

The tune falls neatly into the bluegrass format especially in jams. I am not surprised that it would be mistaken for public domain.
