Message:  R U M O R S OF THE T R U T H

AS SOME OF YOU HAVE ALREADY HEARD THE RUMOR, I AM SO BROKEN HEARTED TO TELL YOU THAT THE RUMOR IS TRUE. DANNY M. EPPS, AS WE KNEW HIM, LEFT US MONDAY OCTOBER 29TH, 2007 AFTER A HARD FOUGHT BATTLE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT A MIRACLE HAPPENED A FEW SHORT WEEKS BEFORE AND HE CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL BEATING ALL THE MEDICAL ODDS. AFTER THREE WEEKS OF BEING "DANNY" AGAIN HE FELL, SEIZURES STARTED AND HIS HEART STOPPED. HE WAS REVIVED AND SPENT FIVE WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL AGAIN BUT HIS CONDITION WORSENED AND HE SILENTLY SLIPPED AWAY WHILE NIGEL, A FRIEND, READ TO HIM WITH LUCY BY HIS SIDE.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR DANNY M. EPPS, 66, OF SPRING, TX. WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2007 AT 1:00 P.M. AT THE NECHES RIVER BRIDGE ON HWY 21 BETWEEN ALTO AND WECHES, TEXAS PER HIS REQUEST.

DANNY WAS BORN May 16, 1941 IN LUFKIN, TX., TO VERNICE (PRESTRIDGE) AND TRAVIS EPPS, AND DIED MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2007 IN HOUSTON. A FORMER RESIDENT OF LUFKIN AND ETOILE, DANNY HAD RESIDED IN SPRING FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. HE WAS A LUFKIN HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE AND ATTENDED STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE UNIVERSITY.

DANNY SERVED WITH THE U.S. MARINE CORP. AND WORKED FOR DELTA AIRLINES, BUT HIS LOVE FOR MUSIC SURPASSED ALL THAT. MUSIC SONGWRITING WAS HIS PASSION AND HE WAS ASKED ONE TIME WHERE THE WORDS TO HIS SONGS CAME FROM. HE RESPONDED THAT THE WORDS WEREN’T JUST HIS, HE WAS ONLY THE GO-BETWEEN.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW STACY (EPPS) AND PATRICK SHIPP OF WALLA WALLA , WASHINGTON: SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, KIDD TRAVIS AND ALSION EPPS OF CUMBERLAND CITY, TENNESSEE, STEPDAUGHTER, ANALICIA WEATHERBY OF HOUSTON: GRANDCHILDREN, JOSEPH KARKULA OF AUSTIN, CAITLYN KARKULA AND TRENTON CLARK, BOTH OF WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON, GREY EPPS AND PAISLEY EPPS , BOTH OF CUMBERLAND CITY, TENNESSEE; STEPBROTHER, MALCOLM RICKS OF LUFKIN; SISTER, RITA (EPPS) DE LA FOSSE OF WIMBERLEY, TX. LOVING COMPANION, LUCY PRICE OF SPRING; NIECE, ROBYN THOMPSON OF LUFKIN AND GREAT-NIECES HANNAH AND SARAH THOMPSON, BOTH OF LUFKIN.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER, VERNICE WHITEHEAD, STEPFATHER, FRED WHITEHEAD; AND BROTHER, FREDDY WHITEHEAD.

WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS, CALLS AND E’MAILS. HE OBVIOUSLY WAS TRULY LOVED BY MANY AND HIS SYNICAL WIT , VAST KNOWLEDGE AND ARTISTIC ABILITIES WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. MAY THE LORD HOLD HIM CLOSE AND SEND HIS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AROUND THE WORLD.

ALWAYS THINK OF HIM WITH A LIGHT HEART AND AN EVER WONDERING "WHY THE NECHES AT WECHES"? SOUNDS LIKE A SONG IN THERE SOMEWHERE.

HIS LOVING AND DEVOTED SISTER,

RITA
