| Message: | Many, many people (about 300) came to pay a last hommage to our beloved friend Philip. Seven people spoke words of love and admiration. Philip will live forever in our hearts. His chief editor made public that two Dutch newspapers founded a new two yearly prize honoring our friend; The Philip Brouwer Integrity Prize, for Dutch journalism. Music was played in between. The first song was Eva Cassidy's The Atumn Leaves. Next was Mickey's All my trials, then The Walkabouts' The light will stay on, Allison Moorer's Steal the sun and I closed the ceremony with Colors of October. After that Johnny Cash sang We'll meet again and the casket was carried away. We all went by car to the buriel site and said our last goodby. No words were spoken, it was a silent and majestic ceremony. We returned to the auditorium and had a drink, talked about Philip and the ceremony and said goodby to family and friends. October will never be the same, as my song The Colors of October... |
