Have you ever cuddled up with a fish? Most of the time, my fish end up on my dinner plate.

As for parakeets, our family used to have them. They live a long life, and I was the only one who could speak "parakeetese", so them birds told me all what was going on in the house when I wasn't around!!! Now, if I could only find a poop-less bird!
