| Message: | I have tried many times to join this thread but the words just won't come to describe my thoughts and feelings for Mickey. But I have to try. In a way, Mickey was a kind of soul-mate. Like most of the porch, I s'pose, I felt he was speaking my language like no-one ever had before. But Mickey spoke it best! His talent was amazing. His songs amaze in a new way each time I listen. He sings straight into my soul, enriching it with his beautiful words and music and the truthfulness and love in his voice. The ugliness - the greed and hatred and poison - of the world seems to somehow fall away and I feel the belief that everything is as it should be. It seems contradictory to say that but after listening to Mickey, you know that that is so, somehow. There IS all that darkness around us but there is also something very beautiful inside us, that Mickey lights like a candle, and we will find our way. Now, I miss him every day of my life but the music is there to soften my loss. He generously became a friend to me and made me feel worthy. He was smart, funny, cheeky, kind and brave. I am always aware that as huge as my loss may seem to me, mine is but a kangaroo's toe-nail compared to that of his family and close friends. I now love to hear about the Mickey I never knew; the Dad for example. And he only gets better! Love to y'all, Karen |
