| Message: | Barbara, A lot of what I would want to say I have alread told a couple of times before on the Porch ... so I will have to speak Latin, and abbreviate ... First heard Mickey's music while using headphones (yep, remember those things) and it was his FMJ album ... scratches and all. Fell in love with reading and listening to the lyrics and melodies (and Interludes). Like others, every time I went to a record store, I searched for newer albums until, it seemed, the well ran dry. And for about 30 years I wondered what happened to Mickey and his music. Retirement? Seclusion? or ??? But in 1999, while hanging around Amazon.com, I discovered conversation about this website, so I joined-in that summer. Went to the first Gathering at Perdido, and like a high-school student enfatuated with a living idol, I met Mickey, Mamie, RB, Sweet Bobby, and the rest of the 'motley crew' of the original Porch. Later, back home, I met Ernie (the now famous Councilman from Bat Cave), and Gene, at a local restaurant. Before the infamous 'French Fry Fight' (and my subsequent incarceration), Ernie whipped out his cell phone to give Mick a call, so we all chatted with him about the Phoenix heat. Was never a time that Mickey didn't have love in his heart and music in his soul. Joey |
