| Message: | Sincere thanks for the prayers and concern for my son Richard (Richie). He was recently told he will need a liver transplant and on Thursday learned the two tumors the doctor had found on his liver are cancer. In a 3 & 1/2 hour procedure on Friday a surgeon delivered chemo directly to one of the tumors and in 3 weeks will visit the other one. He is still in the hospital, something about his blood levels not what they'd like, but he is not in pain and is quite cheerful. I told him prayers for him have been going up all over the world. He said that could be why he feels as good as he does. The nurses keep asking if he wants pain meds, insisting that he is supposed to be hurting. But he says he isn't. He even likes the food although it doesn't always stay down. Richie has always worked with his hands, as a welder, carpenter, plumber, electrician etc. He has noticed some things that need repairing about the hospital and said if they don't release him soon he is going to the parking garage and get his tool kit from his truck. I told him they will never release him if he does that. I wish I had a photo to send you but please try picture a 48 year old man, with a big smile and a slight yellow tinge to his complexion, dressed in sweat pants and a hospital gown that ties in the back, going around the hospital with a tool kit "fixing things." Thank you all so much for your love, prayers, kind thoughts and good wishes. I am printing copies of your messages to take to him. |
