Thank you for your kind words and for recommendiing the MoondanSe website. By the way, you really CAN get there by just typing "Moondanse" onto your search engine page. I sure hope you can be there with us at some time when we are in performance in the near future. Lee and I look forward to meeting all of you.

Yes, our website will get a much needed update and there will be a lot of new PHOTOS of us with LAURA! But we put all that on the back burner because until we have TWO CD's finished, we won't be seeking any performance venues. By the time we have 2 albums done, we should be able to do TWO shows of about 90 minutes each. Then, we'll be ready to stick our faces out in front of folks again! Ryan is our sound engineer in the studio, by the way and we're all grateful for his many efforts.

Meanwhile, maybe you'd like some news updates about us: first, Lee and I pretty much decided from the get-go that it makes the most sense to call ourselves LAURA NEWBURY AND MOONDANSE. Next, we've been a trio in the past, but with Laura's agreement, I brought in 2 good friends: Bob is a pretty darn good FIDDLE player (Can't begin to say how much I've wished for THAT!) and Curt, who is a fine LEAD GUITAR PLAYER who can go acoustic or electric. Both these guys sing well too! But most of all, I picked them because they are great guys! Our personal chemistry is incredible among the 5 of us! Morale being the fragile thing that it is, I felt that if we got the right PEOPLE together, we could keep morale high, ~ then everyone will rise to whatever is needed musically. It already seems to be working.

As for Laura, she blows everyone away with her singing! WE're all feeling a bit shell-shocked (but in a good way!). One night, we're recording a couple of songs and I keep wanting to hear a mandolin in both of them. So, I lay down a mando track on each one and it really does make a difference. Trouble is: in live performance, I won't be able to do that without cloning myself!(LAURA had only just begun to learn mandolin and I showed her the mando part). Ten minutes later, she's playing it pretty competently! Wow! She's a fast learner, I'm thinkin'!! I told her right then that if she kept at it for a week, she'd be able to play that mandolin part just fine on the final cuts of those 2 songs: MEMPHIS, TEXAS by Chip Taylor and LET IT GO (by Laura Newbury!). When you hear those on our finished CD's, it WILL be LAURA SHAYNE playing the mandolin parts (as if her singing wasn't already enough!).

This group is so much fun that if I was having any (more) fun, there really WOULD have to be TWO of me! Well, they say you're never alone if you're CLONED!

Love From All of Us to All of You,
Rod Casteel,
MoondanSe
