| Message: | Yesterday I want to see John Prine in Haarlem Holland. Didn't know what to expect. Rumours about his illness and so I went rather expecting nothing. He knocked me off of my feet with a very convincing, partly emotional more then 2 hours long powerfull set, singing and playing acoustic/electric guitar, with a guitar/mandoline player en a double/electric bass player. He sang the old ones like Sam Stone, Hello in there and also a couple of his strong last album. He is one of my hero's and I love the man and he was in good shape, having a good time on stage it seemed. I had his first John Prine lp with me, but there was no chance meeting him. Because of a sore throat he did not want to speak after the show. It was his only concert in Holland and I was surprised by my friend Philip, Newbury fan after I introduced him to MN music. We had a great time and I stayed the night at his place. This afternoon I performed a two small sets in a nearby venue. Have a great weekend everybody! |
