|Message:||Joop, one of the downfalls of doing a
radio show is that you get more music sent to you
than you have time to listen to.
Before I ever knew Jamie, I think I had one of
Bocephus King's cds, but may have traded it in
without ever listening to it.
There's a good little article on him
in the latest No Depression magazine.
He got his nickname, Bocephus, in Nashville
courtesy of other songwriters at a certain
establishment on Music Row.
Seems Jamie was in love with Hank Williams
and a lot of his songs showed it.
When he'd show up at the office,
other writers would greet him by saying,
"Well, what's Bocephus got for us today?"
Jamie has a brand new cd which I will
have a chance to hear soon.
Unlike his earlier, more roots-sounding stuff,
the new one is lush, cinematic music, he says,
coming from his new love: the movies.
