| Message: | Jackie, There are things called short and long term disability. For example, I was out for 7 weeks after back surgery 6 years ago. This was short term disability and it is full salary for up to 6 months. Long term disability takes over after 6 months and last up to 12 months. The company pays half of my salary and insurance pays the other half. Bear in mind that I work for a large company. If someone is self-employed and are unable to work they are basically "on their own" and "may" be subsidized by the government (if at all) AFTER ALL assets have been liquidated and bank accounts drained. That's why I am burying what money I have in mason jars in the back yard. So far I have 3 dollars and 73 cents buried, I just don't remember where. Craig |
