Message:  Thanks Susie, for the update on the projects.

As far as Chris' songbook project goes, I believe we both see it as uncharted waters, mostly when it comes to transfering our understading of Mickey's ideas to a published page. However, I now have publishing software necessary to publish.

On the positive side, In the couple of times we have met about this, Chris and I have been able to agree pretty well on how Mickey would have presented a song. I was fortunate enough to spend enough time with Mickey in his later years to get a feel of how he would play the guitar.

Back in 2000, I spent several months listening to Mickey's playing on those earliest recordings which featured his finger picking method the most. Like probably most of us who pick, I tried to play with trditional chords and picking patterns. It just didn't work. Then, around August, it clicked. It all made sense in a hurry.

Over the next couple of years, I chorded every authorized Mickey track according to his fingering patterns, tunings as well as transpositions. I never used published (piano transcribed) sheet music to do this.

A real help were some live recordings that Bob R. shared with me which contained Mickey's later (and more musically produced tracks) but were now reduced to just Mickey and his guitar.

The beginning of the songbook might include a dictionary of Mickey's picking patterns and alternate tunings (commonly keys of "D" and "G" with the bass note dropped to a "D". But not always. What is truly interesting includes what Mickey does in minor!
