The Mickey Questions, The Intrigue Questions, The prodding, the persistant, the best not to have asked Questions, the answers never just quite answered Questions? I have been thinking about Maggie and Jesse, did a search and got lost when I saw posts from Roy and Meeks and others. The Question - I hope Jonmark or someone will know who wrote those songs and how did Mickey think to bring them together with The Old Man I Would Kill?
I may have more questions, how about The Four Ladies?

ok, I was given some insight re the dragon & the mouse. It was, (I think)1996. Mickey was on his way back to Oregon from Nashville & had stopped to see Mamie. He called me & asked if I'd like to come over & hear something. Duh.. So I headed over to New Caney. Mick was in his silk jammies with a robe. He had a cassette of a rough cut of "Lulled". Some of you are familiar with the Sony? player that he loved so much. He'd put a pillow on the floor & place a speaker on each side. So I laid on the floor & listened. I still love that album as much as any he did. All his great songs & Toni Jolene and her great song. At one point I said "you sound like you are straining a little". He said "I've just been diagnosed with copd. Wow! I didn't know what it was, but knew it wasn't good. Anyway, he gave me a copy of the cassette. I was listening to it on the way home & for some reason started thinking about the dragon & mouse. I called him from my cell & asked him about it. He gave me the "you know, they all change meanings from time to time, etc." That night he called me & said "Dave, who is the most famous mouse in the world? After a second I said "Mickey". Right, he said... Ok, who is the dragon? Not a who, he said. The dragon is greed, desire, temptation. The dragon nearly got me. I knew Mickey for 25 years, and that is the only time I ever got any insight regarding his songs. We had long conversations about religion, history, etc. He was without a doubt on of the smartest people I ever met. And I miss him |

Thanks, Dave!
That answer gives some relief to us "rodent-friendly" fans. I always figured that dragon to be British, with "Puff" somewhere in it's reptilian family tree.
Now, in his IJDI(TSWCMCWI), (and no other performer has done this), he throws in "Mary had a little lamb, a little lamb, a little lamb". Anyone ever ask about that? Or why all the others leave it OUT??
