| Just checked Waylon's bio on Wikipedia. It says Waylon ceded his seat on the plane to The Big Bopper, because he had a cold. That doesn't jive with Dion's story. In fact, since Dion says The Crickets were not along for the tour, I wonder if Waylon was even there at all. |

As the expert’s proclamation gets plagiarized repeatedly, the apocryphal information gets passed along dilettantely... until it eventually becomes The Truth. But the truth is all that matters...
Personally, I believe Dion's account.

On Dion's 2012 album, "Tank Full of Blues," the last song knocks my socks off. Dion raps the lyrics over a bed of slow, bluesy guitar:

I had missed it,but, thanks to you It is a new comfort.Like hearing a letter from an old friend. Through the years with us, the ups and downs and finally, faith. For Dion and occasionally some of the rest of us mere mortals. Hit em hard and long, Mister Z.
